I-SCRT™
FOR RIDING INSTRUCTORS "Success-Centered™ strategies for teaching adult riders" SINCE THE 1986 founding of the Success-Centered™ Riding/Training Workshops, the SCRT™ instructor program has provided a hands-on practical approach to teaching sound and inspiring horsemanship to adult riders regardless of their ultimate equestrian interests. Adult riders' learning requirements, goals and concerns are different from those of younger riders. The SCRT™ Instructor program addresses these issues in intense workshops that encourage self-study and role modeling. Furthermore, the SCRT™ staff offers a unique service to instructors completing one of its programs: free, unlimited follow-up e-mail or telephone consultations with SCRT™ instructional staff on teaching-related questions. There are no updating requirements. Instructors are welcomed to return for another SCRT program; some do, but that is not a requisite.

Instructors who want more measurable proof of their training here, (beyond the Certificate of Completion awarded on completing any SCRT™ program), may elect to take
the Track B (graded) Certificate*. This Certificate is offered only in conjunction with SCRT™ I or the 9-day I-SCRT™ Private Tutorial. The Track B certificate requires the instructor to take a final practical exam, a written one and a take-home exam to complete after the conclusion of the workshop. These exams are not "tricky"; they are practically focused on the SCRT™ I program content, and are designed to be learning tools for the instructor to meet student needs. Each exam takes about 1 hour. They are graded and the grade appears on the back of the attractive and framable
"Success-Centered™ Riding Instructor" certificate. There is an additional, non-refundable $150.00 USD fee for the Track B certificate. (Should a candidate fail one or more of the exams, the certificate will not be issued.)
If after completing SCRT™ I or the 9 day I-SCRT™ Private Tutorial, an instructor wants more experience before taking the Track B exams, the instructor may return within the next calendar year to audit SCRT™ I or E-SCRT™ at no tuition charge with prior written agreement of the program Director. Auditing instructors may be asked to assist with instruction.

Instructors taking the Track B Riding Instructor Certificate program (either via an I-SCRT™ 9-day Private Tutorial or SCRT™ I) can expect to cover subjects of special relevance to teaching: teaching and learning styles and strategies, horse selection, integrating groundwork; teaching on the longeline; tack options for enhancing learning; integrating concepts such as TTEAM®, and Centered Riding®; nutrition and physical conditioning for riders; malpractice and liability concerns; show coaching perspectives; farriery and driving; marketing options; resources and networks for students and instructors. Assigned reading, a course syllabus and daily riding are included. Tuition for the 9 day I-SCRT™ Private Tutorial is the same as for a regular SCRT™ Private Tutorial of the same length. There is also a $150.00 USD charge to cover the costs associated with the graded Track B Certificate.
Track B Instructor enrollees receive in advance a SCRT™ Part I Workbook with required reading. I-SCRT™ 9 day Private Tutorial enrollees also receive in advance a daily schedule that reflects the course content. For cost information and additional program details, please see the back of the "Registration Form". For scheduling or other questions, please call Chardy Shealy at the EEC Office, fax or
e-mail her.
*As an indication of its subject depth, the 2-week SCRT™
Track B Certificate program was deemed eligible for 3 credits by an accredited college for one of its enrolled students, and is part of the elective curriculum of a graduate degree program. SCRT™
